I bought this for my 11 y.o. Boy Scout. It fits him well (make sure you get body measurements first). The pack is lite, and the belt is well padded. We've loaded it up and have some done some short hikes (less than a mile) and so far, so good. It rides like your standard external frame pack. In terms of capacity, it is small, which I expected, but after I stuff a (fairly small and compact) backpacking sleeping bag in the main compartment, there isn't much room. It's not a huge deal is for fair weather over nights, but we have multi-day camp outs where we might need a bigger bag. The long side compartment is kind of nice. I can stuff a canteen or sweater in it. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is I don't know about it's long term reliability (I hate it when people give 5 star reviews and they haven't even used it yet), but my son will most likely grow out of it in 4 years, so I'm not too concerned.
