Most Helpful Positive Review Nicer than an Atom LT or Patagonia Nano Puff
I really like this jacket as a layering piece. More breathable than an Atom LT, and I like the cut better. The chest pocket is a nice touch that the Atom doesn't have. The Atom has 20 denier fabric; this has Fortius 40, so a more durable shell fabric too. Like all Arcteryx stuff, it's pricey, bu...

Most Helpful Negative Review Not worth the hefty price tag
Jacket is a little short overall, and I'm not that tall (about 6', 165 lbs, size L). A bit bulky and not as free moving as advertised. Synthetic filling instead of down doesn't seem like it would be warm enough for harsher fall temperatures in the 30's and lower 40's.

Best synthetic outerwear

by Jaemin Kim, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on May 12, 2021
Atom LT has durability problems, so it is difficult to wear it in the mountains.

Proton is more durable, lighter and warmer than atom at the same time.

Gold is also too luxurious in color gold.

If you ask me to buy either Atom or Proton,

I'm going to buy a Proton.

Because I am satisfied with both other management and mountain climbing.

Very nice hoody

Proton LT is more breathable & durable than Atom LT due to Fortius 40. Its weight is about 390g(slightly heavier than Atom LT). It's good for layering in the winter. Considering sale price, it is very nice and versatile hoody.

Perfect for Cold Conditions

by wjrabbit, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on February 23, 2021
When you put this jacket on you’ll know right away warmth will not be an issue or whatever you’re doing. At the same time you’ll also feel like you won’t overheat and yet very little wind will likely creep in. If you’ve read the hype toting jackets like these as the ultimate cold layer it’s because they’re all correct. Any outdoor activity and even higher output ones like climbing and backpacking will be complimented by these perfectly engineered piece. Arcteryx you never disappoint.

Ideal heat regulation

by opp, Verified Owner from Taiwan Written on November 27, 2020
Loving my Proton LT so far. Was looking for an inoffensive light jacket to throw on for fall hikes/walks around the city.
This jacket is the perfect one jacket quiver mid weight layer around.
Durable enough to withstand rope, rock and tree abrasions from climbing and skiing, and breathable enough you don't get too overheated while going up.
Pros:
  • durable
  • breathable
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • HIKING

This is my first jacket of Arc'teryx, I feel so glad when received this jacket, it is not bulky but can keep you warmth, good to have this for hiking and camping.
I am 175cm and 65kgs, I picked size S in black colour, fitting is nice and the colour is really cool! I am happy to recommend this product for you!

Love this jacket

by HotPie, Verified Owner from NM, United States Written on February 23, 2020
It’s warm but not bulky and the sleeves are nice and long. I can wear it with just a t-shirt in the 40s and be comfortable. It breathes well but also blocks the wind decently. Haven’t worn it in the rain yet to see how the waterproofing is. I’m 6’3” with a 35-36” sleeve length and am happy with the XL. The L fit but it was a bit too tight for layering and the sleeves were a bit too short.

Excellent fit

by dcs, Verified Owner from LA, United States Written on December 12, 2019
The chest contrast looks best (IMO) with the black and neptune colors. This is an excellent trim fit for 38" inch chest/32"inch waist. A sweater underneath fits comfortably. because the sleeves are cuffed, they fit fine for 33" length.
