World-class GTX water-proof and wind-proof jacket for skiing, thru-hiking, alpine mountaineering and whatever else requires water and wind protection. It is not insulated, which is why I would only get it on sale. Not worth the full retail price for a non-insulated winter/extreme weather jacket. I personally got this for skiing, especially in bad conditions, and it works great with a moderate to full insulating jacket underneath. Helmet fits perfectly within collar when zipped up all the way, pockets are roomy and plenty, and the length is just right to cover my bum when I sit on the cold, frosted lift. It may be a little too long if you’re less than 5’4” but you could cinch the hem and tuck it under to shorten length. Highly recommend.
