Love this jacket, as a jacket hound, I am a sucker for too many jackets.
Pros: dry, wind protection, comfort, durability
Cons: doesn't breath as well as other
I have this in a size small and it is big enough to wear a light down or light fleece under. I am 5' 8.5" and about 150 pounds, 39-40 chest, 30-31 waste, 32" dress shirt sleeves.
I would call this jacket not a hot summer rain jacket as it does not breath as well as other jackets made of other more breathable (ie. not gore tex materials). I find that it is a great jacket in the 40-70 degree weather. 70 degrees may be pushing it for a very strenuous activity. I can't imagine wearing this jacket on a rain summer day in the high 70s-90s. But being from the upper midwest, this jacket is good for a typical summer rainy day most of the time.
Water protection is terrific, I like the hood design, pit zips are definitely needed and do a good job. I think in the end, I like the Mountain Hardware DryClime fabric better in terms of breathability, but I still love this jacket as it is my go-to wet weather jacket (I own several).
