Would highly recommend this jacket to any outdoor enthusiast, the only complaint I have is the lack of pockets, there is only one chest pocket

Last rain jacket you will buy

by Pete T., from FL, United States Written on January 21, 2016
quality is great and fit is perfect. It is fitted but enough room for under layers. Great movement. I thought this model had pit zips but this one did not. Prob why on sale. That is only downside. Completely waterproof. Perfect for Florida rainy season and winter with a later. One of my best purchases.

Alpha SL Jacket for Men Rocks

by Eric J., from WA, United States Written on December 26, 2015
Pleasantly surprised by this jacket as I was worried it might be too thin or not durable. While I have not taken it backpacking or used it for rough applications, I can say that it handles moderate to strong rain and wind very well. I got the riptide color and love it. Unlike the Campsaver.com image that represents an older Alpha SL model, mine only has the single Napoleon chest pocket with a white embroidered Arc'teryx logo. It also has external hood adjustments on the front and rear which work great. About the only negative attribute is a lack of pit zips but this is an SL jacket which means you sacrifice the added weight including extra hand pockets. Anyway, big thumbs up! I wear a medium with most Arc'teryx tops including this one and my measurements are: 180lbs, 42R, Shirt = 16" x 34-35", and waist = 34". Very happy with this Campsaver experience as usual and will continue to do business with them :o)

My favorite rain jacket

by Chris K., Written on November 2, 2015
Love this jacket, as a jacket hound, I am a sucker for too many jackets.

Pros: dry, wind protection, comfort, durability
Cons: doesn't breath as well as other

I have this in a size small and it is big enough to wear a light down or light fleece under. I am 5' 8.5" and about 150 pounds, 39-40 chest, 30-31 waste, 32" dress shirt sleeves.

I would call this jacket not a hot summer rain jacket as it does not breath as well as other jackets made of other more breathable (ie. not gore tex materials). I find that it is a great jacket in the 40-70 degree weather. 70 degrees may be pushing it for a very strenuous activity. I can't imagine wearing this jacket on a rain summer day in the high 70s-90s. But being from the upper midwest, this jacket is good for a typical summer rainy day most of the time.

Water protection is terrific, I like the hood design, pit zips are definitely needed and do a good job. I think in the end, I like the Mountain Hardware DryClime fabric better in terms of breathability, but I still love this jacket as it is my go-to wet weather jacket (I own several).

Great Hardshell

by Jim the climber, from NSW, Australia Written on November 9, 2013
I used the jacket on a rock climbing trip to Tasmania and it did deliver what it'd promised. The jacket it's pretty light and packs fairly small so you don't really notice it while is in your pack, it felt very comfortable to wear over a couple of layers while climbing in pretty chilly and windy conditions. It is also very good that the hood fits my helmet. at the camp you can wear a down jacket u
