I ordered the Astral TR1 Mesh Hiking Shoe as a do-it-all shoe for 2 weeks in Greece. I have no prior experience with any Astral products but was recommended these by my brother.

I went with the green color. My first instinct was the flexibility and comfortability right out of the box. There was not much of a break-in period. I used the shoe for well over 5 miles of walking daily and for casual lunches/dinners. They are nice enough looking to wear in non-physical activity functions and this is a real plus on an international trip where you want to pack light.

The most impressive feature of the shoes is their performance on slippery surfaces. I ordinarily would swim in the shoes and then return to the hotel. Along the way, i encountered slip marble stairs and other rocks, and not once did I slip. The quick drying aspect is a real game changer as well. The sole is sturdy enough to plow over whatever is in your way. I even wore the shoes for hours on end without socks (due to swimming, etc.) and I have zero blisters and minimal odor to report.

Overall I am very pleased with the performance on the shoe. It is exactly what I needed and I can satisfactorily report that this one pair of shoes can easily replace 3 pairs if you are looking to pack light.

Will report back on durability after a few more months of use.

Form fitting without extra padding. Cool mesh, comfortable fit and durable enough for day hiking .A perfect warm weather shoe! Have a tough time keeping slippery lace’s tried snuggly the supplied optional laces are a little better but bad color.
