Barebones Forest Lantern

Needed a simple camp light for evening meals and after the fire dies down. Considered 'old school' liquid fuel lights but decided that for us the hassle just wasn't worth it. Started looking at LED-type and found half-a-zillion different models. Cannot say that the Barebones offering is the best but it surely must land near the top. Lightweight yet has a substantial feel. Doubt you could toss it down a mountainside and have it emerge unscathed but it certainly will take the sort of jostling that happens in and around camp. Light is variable and that turns out to be a big draw. Was also concerned that the light 'quality' might be too industrial/synthetic but happily it's not. At the highest level, there is plenty of light to work/read/cook by. Can't comment on battery life yet but we've had it on full-bore x several hours now and it is holding up quite nicely. The integrated battery monitor is a nice feature as well. Not much not to like here..

Forest Lantern Rocks!~

I researched Lithium Ion Batteries after getting this as a gift, they are the best rechargeable batteries, especially in cold weather. My first trip with it was a 5 night river float in November, we had some snow, some rain, some sun and I used it for about 3 hours each night, expecting to have to solar charge it but didn't have too. It worked great even on the cold nights it snowed. Another thing
