zozeppelin's Review of Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL3 mtnGLO Tent - 3 Person, 3 Season
This is my 2nd Copper Spur and 3rd Big Agnes tent overall. Great design, materials and manufacturing. Really weight efficient and easy to setup.
Given the steep pricetag, I had the perception this would be a lifelong tent - well that was completely wrong. I used the tent every year for about a week backpacking (so it was always packed during the day). I always properly stored the tent in the offseason (clean, dry, and loose). After about 5 years, I started getting pinholes in the rainfly. I started patching them with 'type b'. This turned into rips a couple years later and more patches were done. Finally a couple years later I gave up, and sent it in for a used replacement or repair as a new replacement wasn't available. Big Agnes ran me around and ultimately didn't do anything, saying the tent was unrepairable due to UV damage. This was mindboggling as it had only seen maybe 50 days of use, and was never out during day. So a $500 tent went to worthless over a little sunlight? Just know what you are getting into.
