I really only have initial impressions so far since it is mid-winter and I have an old 3 season tent to beat up for light winter use. However, I have set it up in my living room without stakes to check for any obvious manufacturing defects. It is very lightweight, and the feeling gives you the impression that it could be quite fragile. It is very thin and you can actually see through it from close up. I do believe it will last and be very durable if you take care of it. Big Agnes has a good warranty program from what I gather, and I contacted them prior to purchase to clarify some details and questions about replacement parts.
It fits 2 people well in my opinion, and is actually quite roomy in my opinion compared to some other 2 person tents. My wife and I are both 5' 7" and 140/170 lb respectively, but I believe it would accommodate up to 6' without any trouble.
I have no qualms with the design, or the D shaped door hanging down when open. Setup was easy, about the same as any other tent I've had. I bought this for use during extended backpacking trips, as well as bicycle touring. I was considering purchasing a Eureka solitaire strictly for bicycle touring, but this is about the same weight and only a slightly larger packed size.
I do believe the price is high at regular retail, even given the UL materials. I bought on sale and with a coupon for $285 with the footprint, honestly may have been accidental that I was even allowed to apply it to this...anything under $3...
