I haven't had a chance to really put this tent to a challenging test, so this review is somewhat limited. furthermore, the version i purchased was last years model, as the top netting is grey, not red, and i think the side entry is a little different.
for starters, it is very lightweight and can be taken down to a packweight of 2.2lbs by removing unnecessary stuff bags, stakes (a few or most), etc... i'm 5'10" and the length is perfect for my 6' down bag and me. if you're over 6' tall with a longer bag this tent may be too short for you. it is roomier and more light weight than my previous 1 person tent (sierra designs lightning 1), and holds up well for a free-standing tent. campsaver provided a footprint which weighs in at an additional 5oz, so if you choose to use it, count on a minimum pack weight of 2.7lbs. still not too shabby considering what you're getting. as with most of these lightweight tent fabrics out there, you may want to use the footprint. the flooring fabric does seem very thin, and may puncture more easily than a thicker and heavier fabric. an alternative to using the footprint is to carry a tape patch of some kind (there are many choices out there, Tenacious tape is popular). i prefer side entry on any tent, as they feel roomier and have less enter/exit hassle. this side entry "door" is big, and easy to zip/unzip. rainfly and vestibule appear to be well done, with enough room to store gear and navigate as needed during a rain storm (not experienced yet ...
