This is great because it lets you set the poles and fly on the footprint, guy it out and slip the tent body under so it stays dry in a downpour. BA really got it on this one with a body design that is all clips.

Super light. I love that it's pack is long and thin. It fits well this way in my pack. Sets up in just a few minutes and is very easy. The rain fly is taught even without guy lines. I wish the vestibule was a few square feet bigger but that's what you get with an ultralight tent.

What is nice about the footprint is that it can be used simply as the floor when only the rain fly is set up instead of the tent itself. So if you really want to go light weight and the weather forecast looks reasonable with bugs not being an issue, this might be the way to go. It least it would keep the dew off of you with this setup.

I tried this tent out at a car camping event before backpacking with it and I’m glad I did. I was in the GSMNP and there was moderate rain during the night- no lightening, no thunder and no wind. Nonetheless, the splash from the rain fly and ground sprayed to the inside. Water was found at the bath tub foot of the tent and along the sides of the tent. If there was wind, I would have been totally soaked. There are no sides in this tent, obviously to cut down on the weight, but it really fails in the rain. The vestibule area is really small. If you can plan for temperate weather this is a great light weight option, but for the price, I really expected more performance out of this tent. I plan on returning it.

The flycreek footprint I got plus a sweet pair of smartwool socks are just what I needed and for a great price too. Plus they sell Granite Gear packs which is my pack of choice. I recommend
