This is a warm bag, when paired with an appropriate (R 4.0 or higher) 20" sleeping pad. I bought two for winter backpacking with my grandsons. You just can't beat the weight at 1 pound. Grandsons will be excited to sleep in them and I won't worry about them getting cold.
Pros:
- Light weight
- Warmth
- sleeve to retain sleeping pad

We ordered this for our toddler, and after waiting 5 weeks for delivery, then find out there is 0 insulation on the bottom of the bag. Without the sleeping matt, which is NOT included, it wouldn't be warm in summer. At no point does it say the pad is required, apart from on the label once you receive this.

My son, 5, loves his Little Red. Mainly because its red and looks just like his older brother's Wolverine bag, but it keeps him warm and cozy when paired with a good insulated pad. We use the Big Agnes Air Core Ultra Insulated pad in petite size (20x66"). The pad is longer than the bag's sleeve, but it sticks out the top and and gives him a place to sit when he scoots into the bag for the night. Don't neglect to buy an insulated air pad for this bag as the back/bottom has NO insulation at all, just a soft nylon sleeve for the bag. On our first trip we only had self-inflating pads and they didn't work so well with this system. The great part of this system is that the bag only takes about half as much space compressed as a regular kids bag with synthetic fill. Its not the greatest for sleepovers though because there needs to be a good pad or mattress underneath, so there's the extra step of the kid needing to inflate their own pad if no grownups are around. My five year old probably can't inflate his pad by himself.
Cons:
- Needs a good air pad
- only comes in red
Best Used for:
- Backpacking or general camping

I bought this bag and a matching BA pad for my five year old son to use on family canoe camping trips. Needed a bag that could handle a 32F night and packed small and light. The attached pad helps keep my son from slipping off the pad on to the tent floor (as well as kicking everyone else!)
Pros:
- Light and takes small space in pack
Cons:
- Synthetic-prefer down fill bags
Best Used for:
- When light weight matters
