Most Helpful Positive Review Love this
In blazing heat of california summer and relentless rain of pacific northwest winter this umbrella does what it needs to; protect me and my gear. It's a light and beautiful piece of machinery, well worth the money. Bought it on the recommendation of a superlight PCT hiker and haven't looked back.
Most Helpful Negative Review Do not use in windy conditions... fail
Used this recently on the Camino de Santiago as I hate sweaty ponchos and rain gear the wets out. Love the telescopic feature and length to attach on my pack. Unfortunately it is not sturdy enough for windy conditions as a gust of wind flipped the dome inside out and the welds in the frame snapped a...

Well engineered hiking umbrella.

by Connie denBok, Written on April 2, 2017
I've trekked hundreds of kilometres in rain with an umbrella and backpack. The Euroschirm/Birdpal is a very well engineered umbrella with the added benefit of hands free attachment to your backpack straps as a sun parasol or rain protection. If the upper clip is attached at shoulder level it offers good protection from high angle sun, or rain. If the rain is being driven by wind or if the sun is low, you will need to carry the umbrella by hand to angle it properly. Think portable shade when you're hiking with trekking poles and you won't go wrong.

Swing Handsfree Trekking Umbrella

Nicely made item. Needs to be attached to the straps of a backpack. Seems to work well, but not sure yet about how it'll hold up in windy conditions. I intend to use it for street photography in rainy weather. I think it'll be very useful this winter.

Okay product, not good for couples

by Jeb, Written on November 6, 2014
This is the worst product ever. I bought one for me and my girlfriend and we were not able to hold hands like they do in the video because our umbrellas kept on banging together!! Also other activities involving close proximity (use your imagination) are not possible with this. The good news is that when I had to make number two in the woods this product really helped to keep the rain off of my bottom and my toilet paper. But my girlfriend complained that when she made number two that day the umbrella kept on hitting the tree she was leaning up against which was frustrating. Also we were unable to find shelter for hot drinks later in the day, which would have been nice (in order to be able to embrace comfortably). Still, it's a well made product. Just don't use it with your girlfriend, or at least warn her that she should not squat too close to a tree and that you will be unable to hold hands or make physical contact properly while wearing.
