Wonderful light shelter - Black Diamond Beta Light Shelter

I have had something of a love-hate relationship with this tarp tent and in the end; I love it. I have been out dozens of times over the past three years and the challenging thing about the tent is understanding condensation. I live in Olympia Washington and so it is very rainy and that puts this single wall/limited venting tent to the test. In most weather I try and leave the door open, rolled up, and that helps greatly, or partly zipped closed. That helps quite a bit but the bottom line is that you will get condensation inside the tent, it doesn't drip on you, but the tent will often get wet inside. I've learned to live with it as I love how light the tent is, the ease of set up (even in high winds, just stake out the windward side with two stakes and then secure the other four or five), the incredible strength in wind (as long as it's staked well!!), and the ease of take down. Lastly this is a great winter shelter. I just returned from Mt Rainier where the winds were over 30 mph and I got over a foot of snow on the tent. I carefully buried the snow stakes I have and wow, the tent was really stable and comfortable. So for $150 this is awesome, in summer I often use a sil nylon 8x10 tarp instead, no condensation there!!! Enjoy!!
