Most Helpful Positive Review Wonderful Light Shelter
I have had something of a love-hate relationship with this tarp tent and in the end; I love it. I have been out dozens of times over the past three years and the challenging thing about the tent is understanding condensation. I live in Olympia Washington and so it is very rainy and that puts this single wall/limited venting tent to the test. In most weather I try and leave the door open, rolled up, and that helps greatly, or partly zipped closed. That helps quite a bit but the bottom line is that you will get condensation inside the tent, it doesn't drip on you, but the tent will often get wet...

Black Diamond Beta Light

by Matthew S., from MA, United States Written on July 13, 2015
This is a sweet tarp. The material and stitching are very high-quality, it packs down to the size of a water bottle and weighs just over a pound. Its footprint fits two people well with plenty of extra room for gear, two people can sit fully upright (I am 6'1") and hang out during a downpour. It is straightforward to pitch, took me around 2 minutes the first time I tried. It does collect condensation in damp areas, especially if pitched close to the ground, as a result of its design. Future models could use a couple vents but there is enough head room in it for me that I don't get wet if I sit up or try to move around. For now, though, this thing is simple and streamlined without frivolous design elements which would add weight and I appreciate that.

In short, this thing is hard to beat when considering packed weight and size versus the amount of shelter and protection that it provides. If you hike with poles, it is almost a no-brainer. I love this thing for backpacking plus I throw this guy in my pack even for short day hikes, it is great for an emergency shelter for 3, possibly 4 adults. I suggest this tent to anyone looking to shed base weight without sacrificing protection, privacy or $400. It is alwa...

This little tent does it all. Only issue is that you need to silproof all seams to make water tight.
