This is a nice way to transition your power system. I have standardized on double AA batteries. My technology is a little bit older but my GPS, Walkie Talkies, and headlamp all take double AAs. Luckily these pieces of hardware have USB ports that can leverage this battery packs USB out. Power needs for powering auxiliary gear, charging my mobile phone, and a mini fan that can be used for comfort or fire starting will work now with USB. Now the power options are much more open. With a mini power bank I can recharge the battery pack or keep double As for backup. The only addition would not generate as much revenue for Black Diamond but it would be cool to have a cord that would work with my icon and plug into a standard USB power pack as a plan C.

One negative that I don't understand is on lockout with a little jiggle the led on the battery pack starts blinking red and green. So when you are hiking and this is in your pack I guess it just continuously blinks inside your pack. This would negatively impact the power in the battery over time. Not significantly but there is no benefit to this behavior.
