Reviews & Ratings for Black Diamond Pipe Dream 45 Pack
— 1 review — Page 1
I really like the design of this pack - though I haven't used it all that much so this are just my initial observations. Would be nice if instead of the velcro main closure the backpack used the coldshut type closer that it has to cinch it up top to bottom - im concerned that the velcro is going to stop sticking quickly as the pack gets put in the dirt. The whole concept of the pack is that it becomes a rope tarp or sitting pad, which means that the part that goes against your back and straps will get a lot of dirt (ive come to terms with climbing being a dirty sport, but it seems like you could solve this with some clever design, like maybe the part that goes over the bottom folds underneath it to keep the straps and back clean...). The other is that the velcro closure could be a lot bigger - the pack has the ability to be loaded a lot more than the strap gives capacity for - seems like for just an extra few inches I could carry a ton more gear which would be very nice - same goes for the bottom part - with the pack stuffed its a bit of a struggle to get the bottom pulled over it all, so the coldshut straps could be longer as well. I really wanted the pusher pack which they stopped producing, but nonethless I think the design of being able to collapse your pack entirely open and then pack it up that way for cragging is way superior to a backpack - i hate trying to access stuff at the bottom, or packing and unpacking it in general.
