These poles have served me well in a variety of terrains. Custom sizing is as easy as flicking the locks and then reading the the pole lengths (in cm), and the poles are durable and relatively comfortable. They also work great for knocking cobwebs out of your path.

I've used trekking poles for years now, however, unlike most backpacking gear I could never really find a reason to justify the more expensive trekking poles over the $50 ones available all over the internet. Obviously there's a huge difference with packs, and sleeping bags, tents, pads, etc. - but with poles I thought that maybe they'd be a little bit lighter, but I couldn't find any other real justification. Well, I was wrong. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. The quality of these poles is amazing. My favorite feature is the flick locks, wow.. such an improvement over the twist locks on most poles. Unlike the twist, these don't scratch up the poles, and these stay in place. I'm 6'3'' and 225 lbs and hike 40+ miles a month and put poles through their paces. I haven't had these for long, but so far they've held up extremely well and seem to be made to last. I also really like the shock, I've had poles in the past with the "anti-shock" springs built in, but I didn't like them at all, they are more prone to break, and with me being a larger man they didn't do anything but bottom out. These however work as intended.

Love the trekking poles. Once I got used to how to hold them they really helped in keeping my balance and walking on rocky and uneven terrain. I even use them now when I takes walks around my neighborhood.

I used for 80 miles over 4 days on JMT. Excellent poles. I would highly recommend.
