I am very top heavy and it was becoming challenging to stay upright rappelling. This chest harness is very comfortable and functional, you forget that it is on. Yes, you can make one with webbing, however this adjusts easily and is set when you are ready to go. If you know that using a chest harness is needed, get one that is dedicated to you. I have not tried others, so I can't compare between other options.
