These are my favorite hiking boots in years. The upper provides good ankle support without too much weight. The warmth and water resistance is excellent for all round 3 + season use - warm enough for moderate winter temperatures but not a true winter boot. They keep my feet dry in snow, some mud and stream crossings but they will not replace Xtra Tuffs.
I have somewhat tender feet when it comes to sharp rocks over distance. These provide good protection
I have the double whammy of hands that sweat heavily in the skin track and get cold easily. These gloves are my go to uptrack and hiking gloves. They cut wind, breathe well and are moderately warm. The pull on strap allows you to easily clip them to a carabiner so they handy. When they are really soaked, they take a while to dry, but putting them inside my parka on the ski down does a decent job.
