Have used this the past 4 years for an annual week long camping trip. Was a cheap purchase the first year and meant to upgrade, but find it basically fit what we needed to cover a campground table. Easy to put up, but needs to be tied down well as it bends easy in a strong wind. I would see that as an issue if used on a beach. It has one wall, but we always drape the other wall, or all three if it rains. Haven't endured any heavy rain, but I would just cover it with something heavier. With a propane lantern going, it warms up underneath when it gets cold.
Well designed and made, functional jacket for moderately cold weather. I'm 6', 200 pounds, and ordered an XL. Almost sent back for a large, mostly because the length of the arms seemed too long, but that could be an advantage if you need to stuff your hands inside. I wrote to Montane and they told me the large was 2 1/2 centimeters shorter in the back, and 2 centimeters in the sleeve. Not enough to worry about. I've been in some windy 35 degree weather already and it blocked the wind well, and was comfortably warm. Hood is great. Extra insulation in front of the pockets. Wish I had bought two.
Normally don't spring for the cost of Patagonia products, but I wanted a good pair of lightweight shorts that are not too baggy. These fit the bill in material, waist, and length. However, the bottom of the legs after one washing look totally stretch out compared to the upper part of the leg, like a similar pair of North Face shorts I have had for 10 years. There is just something irregular about the stitching, material cut, or something that make them flair out at the bottom.
