The Borealis is great for its athletic fit, lightweight and breathable design. I wish it had a helmet compatible hood, but it’s otherwise a great piece. I have some concerns about the durability as some of the stitching is sloppy.
Katana Lace were my first non-beginner pair of shoes. 5 years later, they are still my go-to sport climbing and gym shoe. Comfortable, versatile, excellent!
This is a great hoody for its features, however, after only a couple uses it is already showing significant signs of wear. I have some sun hoodies from other brands that have lasted me for years with far less signs of use than this one after only two uses.
The black diamond Alpine Cork trekking poles are bomber. Super sturdy and solid under weight. Also relatively light weight for how robust their construction is. These are the industry standard.
I wouldn't recommend this if you plan to use it in the gym or with any rope thicker than 10mm. The anti-panic mechanism will continue to disengage the device while trying to lower. Aside from this issue, the device works like any other assisted belay device. I didn't care for the mechanism to open/close the device, and having to twist it to an angle to get it off your harness without the use of a carabiner. Racking the device without a biner also causes the device to sit weird on your harness. Overall, it has some new designs that try to differentiate it from the current gold standard assisted belay device, but I don't find any of the features compelling.
Lifetime warranty is great, but these things last so long you won’t even need it! I have many pairs going on years of regular use. I only buy darn tough now.
I've tried many of the different small cams, and while none are perfect, the Z4s balance low weight and functionality better than any others. Especially in the dual axel sizes, the Z4s are great due to their greater range of operation. The stems have a tendency to get kinked if used during aid and falls, but this doesn't effect the overall functionality.
