Gorgeous knife, new scabbard is embarassing

This is the second knife (of the exact same item) I’ve purchased. Liked the first one (5-star) so much I bought a second for my son for Christmas. The knife (I had assumed was the same), but the scabbard was some california style safety scabbard in which I have no interest. I'm thinking I'll send the knife back; though, I may keep the new knife which arrived wrapped in a kind of cosmoline and send it to my son in the original scabbard that came with my first knife (the original scabbard is pictured to come with the new knife but didn't). I'll likely throw the original knife in a drawer, I've plenty. The new 'california style safety scabbard' is going in the garbage or perhaps will be a chew toy for Yoda my GSD.
