Great pants. Light for the heat of the day in the Eastern California Sierra where it was in the 80's during the day but did the job at night too when the temperature went down to the mid-40's. Convertible portion of pants were easy and manageable. Even able to remove lower portion with my 38lb backpack on. Didn't experience use with rain but I did spill my water on my pants and it repelled the water great. Decent pockets on pants too. Was able to hold a lot of my snacks (GU, power bars etc) and my phone.
needed something light and durable for my backpacking trips and the helix coffee maker did not disappoint. Easy to use and pack I have used it on two trips already. Will take it with me wherever I go!
I needed to get a nice pair of hiking boots for an upcoming trek up Mt. Whitney. I happened to see my size in the shed and for $60 I thought what the heck...Gronell's are good technical boots. Needless to say, I did a 7.5 mile strenuous test hike this past weekend with elevation and the boots came through big time. They fit like a glove and were very comfortable. The traction on the boot was very solid. I could feel the traction from the moment I got out of the car onto loose gravel and the boots did not disappoint as I was ascended and descended steep steps. Several times along the way the boots caught me when I slipped saving me from a sure turned ankle. As we were nearing the end of the hike I thought for a time I might be getting a blister right on my left third toe mound. When I was done with the hike there was nothing...on either foot...which impressed me very much. We also had to traverse high water and the boots clung very well to wet mossy rocks. Water did splash halfway up the boot but the boots were very sound from the waterproofing perspective and no water made it inside the boot.
So far so good. I will report back in a month when I have completed my trek up Mt. Whitney with the boots.
