The Ultraventure is my absolute favorite go to trail shoe. I've used the shoe for 20mile events up to 105k events with another 100k in a couple of weeks.
This model has the cushion that keeps you going for hours and hours and the fit is amazing, if it suits your foot of course.
The heel and midfoot have a nice hold and the space in the forefoot allows your foot to swell when you're hitting those later hours and miles.
They aren't the best technical shoes for bombing downhill, but for situations where your power hiking for a long time, the trade off is well worth it.
If you have a broader foot, not necessarily flat wide foot, these are well worth a try.

By chance I ordered a pair of Ultraventures (also by Topo)
Last week I covered 46 miles in a with over 8k of vert in the AZ mountains with not a single blister or discomfort.
I then noticed that the MTN Racer model was about to drop. It seemed like a no brainer to give this model a try.
I found them on CS on sale, bonus!!, I got them a couple of days ago and tried them out this morning for six miles.
Well this model is just that bit better! Its lighter, uses megagrip compound and feels ever so slightly conformed to the foot, in a good way.
As described this shoe allows your forefoot to spread out, but the mid and heel feel totally locked, no sloppiness. On some nasty techy downs, my feet feel planted and confident with ample traction. The MTN Racers feel that bit more nimble over the Ultraventures.
I always order a half size up due to the nature of running ultras, my feet are slightly wide, and over the miles they do swell.
This is a perfect balance of foot lock, space and comfort. I cant comment for other regions, but for the desert they'd be tough to beat.
This isn't a long term review, but based on my experience with the Ultraventures, I'll give'em the nod.
I highly recommend giving these a try.
I know that some people are ambassadors, I am not one of them.

This is my second pair of Akasha's. These shoes work very well on technical mountain runs, as well as quick moving single track. The tread stands up well to rough Arizona trails which are littered with sharp edged rocks. I can't speak to how they are in wet conditions but as a desert show they're great. They are slightly heavier than othe trail shoes, but make up for that in robustness, yet still maintain a slim profile. And that is my minor quibble. This is a wider LS shoe, but after 15 plus miles, once my foot starts swelling, they do feel a bit tight up front Stopping and relacing normally helps this. To me it's worth the trade off of stability and technical ability and still have a decent amount of cushioning.

I'll keep this brief.
I'm on my sixth pair of wildcats.
I trail run with them, I hike long distances with them.

This vest is super lightweight and compact.
It's just right for cool morning runs to keep your core warm.
It breaths well and has mesh panels near the back so it doesn't clam up once your warm.
And for hiking it works as a good wind break up top for no weight or space penalty.
And the price is right, you won't find anything else like it in this category.

This is the best all around hiking/trail running shoe I've found.
I use them for both trail running a few times a week, as well as long distance hikes.
This is my fourth pair, plus I have the goretex pair which gets occasional use, I live in the desert.
First day with my new pair did a 13.5 mile hike over my local mountains, it's rocky, gnarly and loose.
No discomfort, no blisters, nothing.
Traction is as expected, works great on most surfaces, but can slip on slimy rock, like on the AT/LT.
I've not found a magic shoe yet, but this'll do till that one turns up.
Without a doubt will purchase again.

I'm a huge fan of the wildcat 3.0 so figured I'd give these a try.
The fit and comfort are excellent, just order up a half to full size which is normal for La Sportiva.
I use these for 5.5 mile trail runs over very rocky AZ terrain 3 days a week.
Like the 3.0, the material of this shoe isn't constrictive, but the mesh is surprisingly tough. I've looked down a number of times after girding against a rock to find no hole or tear.
These are also my backpacking shoes.
Will buy more, that's all I can say.
