I take a trip to the Boundary Waters every year. In the past, I've slept on a thermarest that was 1 3/4 inch thick. Lying on your back that's fine, but I think I, like most people, sleep on their sides and switch sides through the night. That 1 3/4 inch pad was not enough for side sleeping, so I started researching. Yes- expensive, but this pad is excellent. I'm sure that with the memory foam

I've been through a few different pillow designs before finally finding this one. It is WORTH the price. Other pillows were not comfortable at all when on your side, as they would not suport my head. This one does. I probably could have gotten away with the smaller version of this pillow though. Packs down quite small. Don't fret over the price. It is worth it. No regrets here.
