It works, but wait there's more!

Written on Jun 03, 2018

It's waterproof and it's packs small, what else could you want? Well it also has an intergrated self storage pouch and the sinch cords don't get in the way and make a perfectly secure connection to the backpack. Overall I am very impressed with the quality and thought that went onto this cover.

Another Osprey win!

Written on May 20, 2018

This is my new day hike pack and overnight pack. Perfect padding, perfect fit, simple design. I am 6'2" 185lbs 33" waist and the medium/large fit perfect. This pack is light enough for fast ultra light overnights and stable enough that I can trail run in it. My only wish is that they would make the same pack in a 55-65L size because it is all that I would need for a multi day backpack if it had more capacity.

Suction cup foot warmers

Written on Jan 23, 2018

These boots are above expectations. Very comfortable, warm, and grippy. Standing around in 20° snowy weather my feet stayed warm and dry and these boots do grip and release snow better than my X Ultra mods by Salomon. My only small complaint was that there is no gaitor hook loop by the toe and the laces criss cross in a way that makes it near impossible to attach the gaitor hook.

Sweet pants awesome colors

Written on Jan 12, 2018

The 10k10k waterproof fabric is very breathable and waterproof. The insulation makes these pants very toasty even while standing around. These pants a pretty packable and light and could be used as camp pants after backpacking. Fit is snug and form fitting.

Comfy All Season Pad

Written on Dec 20, 2017

I was able to test this pad in the 20 degree deep snow with only a Thermarest Z-Lite foam pad under it. I slept warm and cozy with no sign of any cold transferring through. Overall this is one of the most comfortable backpacking sleeping pads. Weight and size are very manageable. The only issues I can come across is that the pad takes a little bit of work to roll up and pack due to the internal foam construction, also it takes a bit of time to self inflate at first if you don't store it outside of the stuff sack. The internal foam creates a memory of what form it is stored in. There may be warmer or lighter pads out there but this one fits right in the middle of weight vs. warmth and it does it with superior comfort.

Good alternative to jet boil

Written on Dec 20, 2017

I was able to pick this burner up on sale and for the price I paid I am very happy. At normal price I think the Jet boil Flash and MiniMo cooking systems have this burner beat in almost every way. I dont have any issues with this burner so far I just believe both Jet boil and the MSR burners cook faster, offer models with simmer control, and the MSR is more wind resistant. If you can get this burner on a good sale it will perform almost as well as its competition and is definitely a good option.

Light and roomy

I was very pleased that I was able to snatch this tent up on sale. The setup is very quick and easy, the materials are very light and high quality, the venting is well thought out. I do still prefer a tent that is completely freestanding and this tent is just mostly freestanding because the lower corners do not hold their shape without being staked in. There are not many UL tents out there with a full lifetime warranty. If you can get this for a reduced price over the Fly Creak 2, I would recommend this tent highly.

Must have for Exped and Sea to Summit

Written on Dec 20, 2017

I bought this for my DownMat7 and Sea to Summit Comfort light mat. Exped takes 3 bags to fill, Sea to Summit Takes 1.5. I cannot imagine going back to using the integrated pump on my Exped after using this . This pump should work with All modern Exped flat valve pads and all modern Sea to Summit flat valve pads too. Would have been 5 stars but Sea to Summit makes a cheaper pump bag that works for both brands.
