Nice and warm, rated to 25F. I like the zip off fake fur as it weighs down the hood when attached and falls too close to my eyes. I tried the Arcteryx Nuri which fit great but was too light weight for me. This coatfits looser but for the watmth and price point it is a good deal.
I tested this jacket at 30 degrees, snowing and it kept me nice and dry and again the same evening wearing a shortsleeve tshirt underneath and the hood down and was perfectly warm. The fit is nice, the inky blue violet color is lovely--not flashy, just a bit more interesting than black. Size small fits like a size 4 and the jacket is semifitted with a tapered silouette.
And now the down side. The neck and hood design are awful--very large and roomy and a very uncomfortable hardshell fabric even though the hood is lined with soft polyfill. I think I could fit a helmet under the hood. The plastic pieces to cinch the hood do not stay in place. The neck doesnt lay nicely when zipped down a few inches. And when zipped up or with the hood on the rough outer fabric rubs against my face and neck. Very disappointing. Thankfully I can return it but only for store credit since i bought it from the shed. By the way, they were very accurate about the condition of this shed item and it may be why i gave the jacket 2 stars.
This is my first backpacking tent and i am impressed by the 2.1 lb weight. It is, however, very small. I am 5'6" and my boyfriend is 6'3" and the dog is 40lb. The two of us just fit side by side. The dog had to lay half on top of me. I have only set it up in the yard so far. Based on the first night i am going to keep it for solo backpacking primarily based on the weight. I wish there was more ventilation without the fly attached other than the front door. The reason i gave it four stars are the stakes. They are about as thick as a strand of angel hair spaghetti no, make that an uncooked udon noodle. A few popped out overnight, maybe when i took off the fly. They will need to be replaced. Note: i wanted to buy the 3 person but couldn't find it available anywhere.
