I like hiking in the Uinta Mountains in Utah. The trails are rocky, rooty, and wet. At the end of hikes, the bottom of my feet would hurt from all of the rocks and roots that I had been stepping on. I looked for a boot with thicker, more coushiony soles and a good rock plate. These shoes are often described as "pillows for your feet", and indeed they are. These boots are the best I've ever encountered for protecting against rocks and roots. I hardly feel a thing, and go hiking all day without my feet hurting in the end.
