Breathable Hiking Shoes

Written on Nov 09, 2020

In the past I owned a pair of Oboz Firebrand II B-dry waterproof hiking shoes. While I appreciated their great support and stiff midsole that kept you from feeling every stone on the trail, the waterproof membrane made them very hot for hiking in Arizona. These Oboz Firebrand II Low Leather Hiking Shoes are a step up. While not completely waterproof, the leather is water resistant, yet remains breathable, which makes for much drier, cooler and happier feet after miles on the trail. If you do get water inside them, they dry quicker than shoes with a waterproof membrane. The sole has a good aggressive tread and is grippy on rocks; the downside is that they wear fairly quickly. The stiff midsole really helps protect your feet on rocky trails. They run a little narrow, so I ordered the wide size and they fit me perfectly. These have become my "go to" hiking shoes and I hope Oboz keeps them in their inventory.
