Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL3 mtnGLO Tent - 3 Person, 3 Season

Written on May 01, 2023

Absolutely love this backpacking tent! Now that I have used it multiple times for many days in a row on thru-hikes of the JMT in 2016, 2018, and a few side trips; I can definitely give this tent 5 starts! Very easy to set up! The rain fly set up is super quick and easy as well. I bought the 3 person model to have extra room for gear while hiking the JMT with my son. We hunkered down in this tent for 3 hours rain storms in the Sierras many times! Windy conditions were no problem for us! This tent held up with no problem at all! This tent has been through the toughest of weather and still is my “go-to” backpacking tent. It is light for a 3-person tent as well. I love the built in lights, it is a very nice feature and proved to be useful to us. You cannot go wrong with this model, wether it is the 1, 2 , or 3 person edition. Big Agnes delivers when it comes to light weight durable tents!

Love this bag so much!! I bought this bag almost 9 years ago! It is still my favorite bag. It is supper warm, very lofty, comfy, and just the perfect amount of wiggle room inside. I am 5’3” and 150 pounds. I have brought this bag on 2 Wonderland Trail thru-hikes and 2 JMT SOBO thru-hikes, and a few Section hikes in WA of the PCT. That is roughly 600 miles ! This bag is so luxurious! I don’t really mind the purple color. The zipper is heavy duty, NEVER gets stuck! The inside stash zipper bag for night time stuff is a very nice feature. Sinch at the neck is nice to keep out any air on a cold night. I also sometimes unzip the entire bag and use as a quilt sometimes if it is not cold at night, even though it doesn’t make a full square. I wish the entire bag unzipped including the footbed, that would be awesome as a quilt. I don’t see a need for a new bag yet, 9 years into it. I may upgrade to a lighter weight bag when I do the PCT in the future, due to the weight of this bag being 2.2 pounds. The technology has improved immensely over the last decade for light weight bags with amazing hydrophobic down 800-900 fill. For now this is my go-to-bag!

Best roomy backpacking tent ever!!!!

Written on Aug 07, 2018

I bought this tent for my trip on the JMT in August. I love it !! It is light weight and very easy to attach to my back pack to carry on trail. I bought the UL3 but using it for a very roomy 2 person tent. This tent is the easiest tent to set up that I have ever owned! I set it up in less than 3 minutes! I love the way the fly clips into the tent and/or foot print so easy to do and can do with one person. I love the lights they are such an added bonus. I love all the pockets for personal items. There is only one vent on the rain fly but it worked well. No condensation when we woke up in the morning. I have an MSR Hubba Hubba NX2 that weighs about the same which I love, and has been my go-to tent for backpacking, but I think I’m loving this Big Agnes more!

1 pump with this large UL pump bag and my Synmat Winterlite is blown up! Now I don't need to waste any air in my lungs at high elevations

This is my last pad purchase !!!

After trying 5 other sleeping pads over the last few years, this meets every expectation! I'm a cold sleeper so I need a warm pad even in the summer. I need a light pad as well and I hike in high elevations so I especially like to not have to use my lungs to blow up my pad. The large UL pump sack works awesome! 1 bag blows up my regular wide pad. It's comfy and super warm! I don't see me needing another pad ever again.
