Marmot Arch Rock Short - men's

Written on Jul 14, 2015

I have two pairs of these shorts now. The material is great; strong, washes well, and dries fast. The zippered front pocket on the right side would be better on the left IMO, but is nice for securely holding a wallet, cell phone, etc. The inside waistband is lined with a very soft, fleece-like material that is very comfortable. The fit is more casual. These have become my choice for hot-weather everyday casual wear.

Vasque Mantra 2.0 GTX

Great traction with the tread design, and decent arch support from the insole. I would rate the fit as "true to size" based on my experience; I did order a wide because of how much my feet swell during hiking/walking. Unless you're just loafing around the office or house, I recommend always wearing good, breathable, padded socks for any walking/hiking/running activity. Anyway, love the shoes, the waterproofing makes them a little warm, I plan on buying the non-GTX version eventually for travel to warmer climes. I wore Merrell shoes for years; no more, my brand of choice is Vasque. Between me and my wife, we own four pairs already.

Mountain Hardwear Canyon l/s shirt (men's)

Nice material, fast-drying, casual fit, good color choices. What kept it from getting 5 stars? Ventilation could have been better, and the pockets are a bit 'awkward' - the vertical-zip pocket is so large things get lost inside it and the other breast pocket with a snap closure is too small for most cell phones. That said, I did purchase a second one because it was a good shirt with decent styling for the on-sale price.
