I want to love this jacket, the fit is great for me 5'3" 155lbs active built, so small upper body, but i have hips and a booty. this jacket does not feel to tight in the lower area and i love the elastic on the sleeves so they do not hang down my hand. It is a light/mid weight coat i have been wearing around town in the mid 30's in Denver.
ok on to the bad. I have a REI light weight puffy, this coat does weigh more so i do not think it will replace that coat in my backpack as a back up layer. the primaloft material inside seems to be working its way though the outer shell so i have a bunch of balled up white fuzzes im picking off the coat all the time, kind of a deal breaker. I have images but do not seem to see a way to attach them. For the sale price i feel like i can't complain to much but if i would have paid full price i would be sending it back.
So i ordered the short, I am 5'3" i would say that it is perfect for me but if you are taller, they say under 5'6" you may hit the bottom depending on how you lay in it. I am waiting for the mat but took it out this past weekend with low 30 temps, im cold all the time and i was so warm! the only thing i am not happy with is the hood, it is great if you just stick your head in it and lay flat but i have a sea to summit air pillow and it does not fit in the hood (to large) i tried to sleep with it under the hood between my old air pad and the bag and it just moved all over the place. i opted to just put it in the bag and not be able to use my hood at night to keep my head warm. it worked but on colder nights i will want to use the hood. i would say if you just sleep on your layers it might still be a snug fit with your head and layers in the hood. the feel of the bag is great and i can't wait to try it out with the proper air pad that fits the bag. the one thing i am not sure about is i like to curl up and when the air pad is in the bag you will not be able to pull the bag up and snuggle, that may just be an adjustment i need to make but i had plenty of room to side sleep and pull knees up inside the bag.
I got this bag to fit my Gravel G-12 crampons and they fit well. I think it will work for what i need it for, storing and throwing it in or outside of my backpack. Material is not light but it is not heavy duty either. wish it had a small area of screen for venting but i just will not zip it closed for storage if they are wet.
