I have ridden this board in almost every condition, and I love the way it rides. This board is designed for tree riding in powder and it excels in this area because it is quick edge to edge and floats effortlessly in powder. This board is also fun on groomers because it holds a great edge and has incredible pop because of the carbon layout in the core. Amazingly, this board rides great switch on hard pack, and I have done some switch backside threes on this board. I suggest this board for anyone looking to have fun in any condition on the mountain.
I remember the first time I rode the Japow on a 12" day. I could not get the nose to dip under, no matter how far forward I leaned. This allowed me to put my weight forward and ride this snowboard like a surfboard. Even though this board is designed for deep pow, it holds an edge on groomers and is fun to ride on a fresh groomed run. I have even done some jumps and 360s on this board, and it was so much fun. All in all, this board is great for anyone that wants to have a great time on the mountain.
The Weston Range Splitboard is my favorite split I have ever ridden. To begin with, camber allows this board to grip on the uphill skin; and the dual sidecut, combined with camber, grips on steep and icy ski mountaineering lines. Additionally, the early rise tip and tail provides float in deep conditions, and I have ridden in deep pow regular and switch on this board. Finally, this board is great if you have freestyle in mind because the directional twin shape makes switch landings and takeoffs effortless. Overall, this has been my favorite splitboard for the past three seasons.
