There are not many options for kids hydration packs that have some storage. I needed something that could handle snacks for day hikes but also a little bit more for when I take my 5yr old on short overnight hikes and he carries some of his "essentials". The volume of the pack was perfect for what I was looking for. I got this pack on sale so I wasn't expecting much but to pay full price for this is a waste as there are a lot of features missing that most adult packs would have. The two that stand out for me are that the zippers are not dual/double and slot for the bladder could be done better. I have kids ranging from 3yr - 9yr and it's big on the 3yr old but not small for the 9yr. I figure the oldest will be able to use it for at least another 2-3 yrs. Overall, it works but I'm only giving it three stars because if their were more option in this market, updates would be necessary to stay competitive.
