Jetboil Zip System

Written on Dec 11, 2015

Jetboil is definitely the way to go if what you're trying to do is get the water hot fast. I keep my cooking simple in the backcountry, and the Zip is all I need to do what I want to do. Once warm--and it doesn't take long--the water stays warm in the insulated pitcher. Love the pour lid and how it all brakes down and packs away into a nice, compact package. If you want to get fancier and do some real cooking requiring larger pans and simmering, you can do it. Jetboil makes the pans and options you need if that's your style. I recommend this system to anyone who likes to backpack.

Osprey Atmos AG 65--Best backpack EVER!!

Written on Apr 23, 2015

I can't say enough good things about this pack. When Osprey christened this rig "Anti Gravity" they weren't just tossing words around. It is so incredibly comfortable it's hard to find words to describe it. It's like the whole pack molds completely to your body and becomes part of you, without all the pressure points and hot spots I grew used to with my old pack. It's big enough for any trip I want to take with stuffing room and pockets to organize everything. But the best part by far is the fit and feel. Osprey knocked it out of the park with this design. I can see why the editors of Backpacker magazine picked it as their Editor's Choice backpack for 2015. I'm completely sold in this pack--so much so that I went right out and bought the Osprey Aura model for my wife. She too could hardly believe the comfort of her unit. We highly, highly recommend these Osprey packs for any serious backpacker. It's a "can't miss" purchase.

Big Agnes King Solomon double bag

Written on Mar 24, 2015

This bag is a real problem solver for my wife who loves to backpack but is always cold at night. It's cozy enough for snuggling for warmth, yet big enough for separation if it gets too warm. Sleeping pad sleeves and lack of insulation on bottom saves weight--it's just a bit heavier than my old single bag. Oe more reason she'll be happy--she won't have to carry a bag any more!! construction seems top notch and down nice and fluffy. Very happy with purchase.

Great pair of pants!!!

Written on Apr 03, 2014

I bought the Rydrs as a multi-use piece of clothing, and I couldn't be happier with them. I'm a slender, but athletically built guy, and it's usually hard to find pants that fit me well on my slender waist without squeezing me everywhere else. These pants are perfect for my build. They are extremely comfortable, and the design really does lend itself to ease of movement. I love all the reinfor
