Durable, functional, and comfortable

Written on Dec 18, 2016

This is quickly becoming my go to pant. While not my first choice for mountaineering, this will be my first choice for winter camping. It is more comfortable and functional than a hardshell pant. The nylon patches are well placed so that the cuffs, knees, and rump don't soak up water or suffer from the high use. The pockets are functional. I was concerned about the length, but the pants actually have great cuff closures and don't look baggy or long. I've worn them with a wide range of footwear... sneakers to mountaineering boots... and they seem to work well with just about everything.

comfortable load hauler

While I typically go light, having a massive bag for winter camping or family trips is a nice change of pace. The bag is cavernous and swallows gear leaving you wondering whether you brought enough. The suspension is snug and comfortable. The load doesn't rock or really inconvenience you and feels lighter than it actual is. There are great storage options... side zippered compartments, hip belt pockets, etc that allow you to tuck everything you will need for the day in easy to access places, and when you arrive at camp the bag disgorges its contents easily and in a fairly organized manner.

Downside? Weight. The bag by itself weighs almost 25% of my normal full kit, but it you need the space, investing both money and weight in good suspension is a good idea.

lighter than I expected

comfortable, light weight, no ankle draw cord and fairly casual look to a relatively rugged pair of hiking pants... not bad Kuhl

solid construction, slightly scratchy material

looks great, maybe after a few washes it will soften up. The material is light and seems tough, but a tad scratchy.

High cost for high quality

Super light, strong, and versatile flat tarp. Many tie out points, great camming toggles, useful internal tie points... expensive, but what a great product.
