Perfect for longer Xc ski runs

Written on Mar 01, 2020

Just a bum bag - was what I was thinking seeing this item on campasaver web site repeatedly, although I felt in some strange way attracted to it - until I eventually caved in and purchased it. Well, for what a simple thing it is, it is actually quite amazing. Just about the right amount of storage room for an ultralight windbreaker, a few snacks, phone, keys etc. The water bottle stays put while being easy to pull out and put back. The belt stays tight. Can't think of anything more a simple man can ask for. It quickly became my favorite for crosscountry ski runs in the 30-40 km length range.

Great material, average fit.

The material is really where these pants do stand out of the crowd, in my opinion anyway. Very comfortable on contact with the skin, breath extremely well and have an amazing water shedding capability. The last part must be some sort of black magic. That's how well it works. Not sure if it will last after the first or repeated wash cycles though. The fit is very casual. That can be a good or not such a good thing, depending whom you ask. I personally would prefer a fit little more on the athletic side. Hence one star down.

Trusted Dynafit Quality

Great lightweight emergency jacket / dawn sweater. Exactly the amount of insulation I was hoping for. Just be aware of the oddity of sizing. Dynafit, similar to La Sportiva, is using different sizing charts for the European and North American markets. For example, European size Large is sold as size Medium in the US. Make sure you know which size chart the seller is using before you order online!

Happy wife, happy husband.

Bought these for my wife and, go figure, she actually loves everything about them, including the fit and, most surprisingly, the color. What I was most hesitant about was the lacing as I had bad experience with Solomon lacing a few years ago, but it stays tight as long as it needs to.

Salomon quality

Safely consistent Salomon sizing/fit except that these keep to slightly rub at the bottom of my external ankle bones. I seem to remember this with my first pair of XA Pro's more than 10 years ago as well. Never had a chance to find out if this would give with some break in. My dog decided to bury them just weeks after I had got them. One of them has been discovered after several months in a flower bed (looked shockingly new after spending the winter in soil, speaks for material quality, I guess). Unfortunately, the other half of the pair has never been recovered so I can't speak on how they wear or whether they break in. Anyway, the rubbing is annoying only in combination with really thin socks. The lacing has improved significantly since then though. Could never get the first pair to stay tight enough for extended period of time. Not such a problem with the new ones at all. The sole is quite stiff, more in the hikers class then trail runners IMO.

Beware of odd sizing

Written on Jan 18, 2019

Probably deserves more than 3 stars. It appears to be a good quality piece of garment but I had no chance to try it in outdoors. The sizing is strange. The Medium size comes with 34 inch waist. Too bad, I really liked the style but no size S (32) was available. Solid five stars for Campsaver return policy though!

Looking good

Did not have a chance to see them in action yet but they seem to be quite warm. Hopefully warm enough for the poor blood circulation in my chronically cold hands. I usually wear size L gloves. Got these in 2XL as that was the only size available. Probably could go with size XL but they are not awkwardly oversized hence going one size up is recommended.

Inexpensive and functional

It serves its purpose well. Not much more can be said about a simple belt. Works with any regular 16 oz cycling bottle. The included bottle has a triangular cross-section. I assume the flat wall against one's but is supposed to feel more comfortable.

Excellent for what I use it for

Amazing material, very well balanced wind resistance and breathability. Got the no-hood 3/4 version first in size L which is what i usually wear and love it. Was looking for more trimmed fit this time for xc skiing and gambled a bit ordering size M. Worked out well. Body and sleeves still long enough. I am 6'1", 164 lbs, 41" chest.
