Nice heat distribution

Written on Nov 28, 2020

In preparing for a kayak expedition, I decided to purchase a Trangia stove since I could use multiple fuels - alcohol and gas - without taking two complete stoves. I debated about which type of pan to use but settled on the stainless steel lined aluminum Duossal. Unfortunately the SS sets were sold out everywhere so I purchased the SS pots/non-stick frying pan set and then purchased the SS fry pan separately.

I find the SS lining distributes the heat more evenly. That's important for me as a vegetarian. I do way more simmer/lower heat cooking since searing meat isn't in my meal plan.

If you are a backpacker who counts the ounces, then the difference in weight may be an issue. The SS pans do add ounces - non-stick fry pan: 120 grams vs. SS Duossal fry pan: 160 grams - but with kayaking that's less of an issue.
