Lowas to the Rescue

Written on Nov 30, 2014

A good sturdy boot that I actually wear daily, and after two years they finally died. Had to restitch the front pivot points, but they survived a long long time. I recommend drowning them in mink oil once you get them, so they stay waterproof forever.

Pair Number #2

Written on Nov 16, 2014

Purchased my initial pair on 10/2012, worn daily for the next 2 years. Replaced with this "anniversary" pair. I have hiked all over the Colorado Springs, Colorado area, and had only one minor problem with these-the outside metatarsal pivot point areas will come un-stitched after about 18 months of wear-sewed them back together with a stout needle and nylon thread. I love that the sole is very rugged, provides ankle support, and durable with enough support to not feel any rocks underfoot as you are hiking. After two years of daily wear, from a 6'1" heavy duty user, the soles actually wore through to their inner form, and still kept on going. It was when a chunk of the sole broke out, and fell off, that I ordered a new pair. The first thing you need to do with this anniversary pair is throw away the shoelaces, and replace them with a good 'self gripping' pair of boot laces, drown them in mink oil, for a great winter waterproof boot.
