Lowell Hiker from United States, MI Public Profile
This shoe is rated as the best hiking shoe (not backpacking) at almost every outdoor gear review site and there is a good reason why. They are very comfortable, however the leather uppers do not clinch as well with the rapid lace system as the mesh version. This will probably improve as the leather breaks in. The shoes were comfortable out of the box, but after about 15 miles the leather has become more supple and moves better with my foot. The only negative I could find so far is that I would like the heel to come up a bit higher, as it did rub a blister on one foot after my second hike. Again, this has improved as the leather has become more supple and the shoe flexes more with my foot.
I had never heard of Farm to Feet before. I have many pairs of Smartwool and Darn Tough socks. My Smartwools tend to wear out in the heels, but I have read that the newer models have addressed this issue. These socks are better than any other pair I have owned. The attention to detail is amazing. They fit so well, and the "air flow" channels on the top of the foot really do provide superior ventilation. They are very warm with my Ecco Hiking boots in weather below 10* F, despite their light weight. Feet stay warm and dry. Best hiking socks I have tried to date.
These fit comfortably, are warm but keep feet dry. They are not my go-to for hiking, but for casual, comfortable socks, they are great. They don't offer much cushion, but they are not designed as such.
Sift, soft, soft. Light, comfortable and warm. Everything I hoped it would be. I have a lot of Smartwool and other merino wool products, and this is the softest and most comfortable.
These are fantastically comfortable and durable. They have the best grip of any shoes I have worn to date. I've only owned them for about a month, but they are my favorite shoes for light hikes and everyday wear. Like others, I did purchase a shoe insole for added cushion for my painful heels.
