I have gotten a chance to use this tarp poncho on an overnight backpacking trip. I used this tarp poncho as my only piece of rain gear. It didn’t rain really hard but there was a consistent drizzle most of the day and I wore the tarp poncho the whole time. I am about 6 feet tall and the poncho kept my whole body and pack dry. This is definitely not a stylish piece of gear but very functional. It came in handy at camp as a ground cloth to place packs and gear on that I didn’t want place on the wet ground. I have pitched the tarp as a shelter and it does seem like it would be a little too small to keep a 6’ tall person dry in a hard down poor or in rainy windy conditions. Since this tarp poncho is so light and packs so small I will definitely take it with me on my next trip and I do plan to use it as my main rain gear while backpacking even though I will not likely use it as my shelter.
