I would rather write a review after I’ve had a chance to use actually use the headlamp, but my first impression is positive.
However, everything I read about it not being user friendly is true. I can turn it on out of the box and find the different colors. That’s all. I cannot figure out how to get the distance beam and other features to work and it did not come with these instructions. I am going to have to go to Blackdiamond’s website to get this figured out.
It also is a bit heavy, as was described by others.
My daughter has a Coast headlamp. It is light and easy to use. She also uses her phone for her camera and gets great pictures while I use a full-size rugged camera. The point is, I wanted the extra dust and water protection that hers does not provide, and I don’t think I am going to mind the extra weight or bulkiness.
This is my first headlamp and was afraid of attracting nighttime bugs. After trying to walk with a lamb under each arm and a light between my knees, I decided to take her suggestion and try a headlamp. I have worn it once and it was awesome to have my hands free and too cold out for any nighttime bugs. Once I figure out how the distance beam and how the different colors work I think I’m really going to like it. If the bugs come after me it will be no worse than having a flashlight in my hand. I will just take it off my head and use it in my hand. She has had no problem with bugs and I have read that the red light will not attract them.
I Already have one of these and liked it so much I ordered another. On the one I have extends well onto my shoulders for protection.
The one I have looks exactly like the one Campsaver has pictured. But beware, Buff “updated“ this item. It now has sealed seams and virtually no shoulder extension. The seams are “wavy” from the sealing tape.
I will be returning the item and Campsaver needs to change the picture to match the updated item.
