I was looking for a good mid-weight backpacking boot to replace some older leather boots. These were very comfortable and secure right out of the box. I did swap out superfeet insoles, but I do that in all my shoes. The toe box is a little narrow for me, but I don't think that is a break in issue. I am going to have to do some preventive taping before I go out on a long hike, but it is manageable.
Hey, it is chalk. It keeps my hands dry. I actually like bulk chalk like this over the powder kind for my chalk-ball, since it makes it less of a mess for me to fill.
I have been upgrading my trad rack, and I found these to be the perfect 'biner for racking my gear. They are lighter and smaller than full size, yet big enough that you don't have any issues clipping the rope. The color spread lets me use them to color match all my cams to the BD/DMM color scheme, so I keep everything in the same size range on the same color 'biners. With the additional colors, you can then mix in colors for anything else you want to rack.
I think the Metolius FS is too small (as would the Edilrid 19 be) for me when climbing, but these give me just a bit more space through the gate. I also have some draws with these on the hanger end, and they work well, again lighter and smaller than the full size units, but large enough to make clipping easy.
