Last fall, I purchased a pair of these pants primarily for backcountry skiing. After several tours, during which they provided excellent wind and light precip protection, they look nearly brand new.
To keep from overheating during sunny spring touring days, I purchased the pumice colored pants. The lengthy side zippers offer additional breathability during warmer days.
