I was looking for a very warm down jacket that was also highly compressible. This is almost perfect, but the only problem is it has the length of a normal jacket, rather than a "parka" length of a few inches longer. Not only does this mean when I raise my arms my belly button is exposed, but since it is so puffy, the jacket looks quite square and stout. If this jacket were may 4 inches longer, it would be absolutely perfect. Oh well, the search continues...
This jacket is hardly in the class of "expedition" jackets like TNF Absolute Zero and Marmot 8000M. It's certainly warm, and doesn't make you look like a marshmallow, but for the price and category, it is lacking IMO. Also, the windstopper fabric makes it a bit stiff and crinkly. But if you don't mind the noise and you want a very warm jacket that also looks pretty nice (as all Arcteryx products do), then this is the one.
