We have not had a chance to use it yet however we set it up to evaluate the purchase... What we like- VERY easy to setup and take down, poles are coded, tabs are coded - could almost say idiot proof... Tent is lightweight, seems the vents are done well, the 2 doors for us was a MUST so we don't have to climb over each other to get out. vestibules are semi large but not huge, STORAGE POCKETS!!! :) Cons... the floor is VERY thin (we were looking to put dogs in it - worried about the nails now... DEFINATELY not a lot of space as we will be using it for car camping on smaller pads for 2 people (vs the REI Kingdom 6), we can't find a footprint for the tent anywhere and will need to improvise. otherwise, because of the "good features" (2-doors, price not bad, ease of set up) it gets the 4 stars
these were recommended by a Park Ranger in the White Mountains... Said they'd be better than the others that will just get one across the parking lot in their Uggs to Starbucks... He was RIGHT! like putting Tire chains on your feet, you go NOWHERE on the hills! I've never felt so sure footed and may now be wearing them year round! (of course on pure ice be sure to dig in first a bit or you could slip a bit).
I just started to use it and like how it feels, it sits on my back well, not putting all the weight on my shoulders. However, I have discovered that it probably won't be the best choice for a LONG SERIOUS day hike. It holds just about everything one could imagine you'd need for an "average" day hike however the design with the outer pockets and stuff pocket make the pack expand out so with that in mind, if it's overstuffed with heavier items it will cause you to walk hunched over for balance (hence a VERY tired lower back at the end of the day). I do think I will like it though for the simple walks through the woods.
