Great Road Running Shoe
Written on Apr 03, 2021
The shoe fits true to size and the fit is secure with no heel slipping. The tongue is padded enough to prevent the laces from biting into the top of your foot. I found the upper comfortable and the outsole has plenty of rubber. I have not had the chance to use these in wet conditions so I can't speak to traction in wet conditions wet. Also, I have not run in hot weather so I can't verify breathability.
The shoe is plain looking if that matters and it is not light or bouncy or soft.
The ride is somewhat firm but it is surprisingly easy on the legs, knees, feet and anything else that takes a beating during a run.
The manufacturer claims the shoe reduces vibration and provides shock reduction. I find these claims to be accurate. I've only done two runs in these shoes but already they are my favorites. The first run was 8 miles out of the box at a fast (for me) pace with fresh legs and no problems. The second run was also an 8 miler but this time the legs were tired from a 12 miler the day before. Again no problems, the legs felt good after the run.
This shoe is currently out of production so supplies are going to be limited. If I find another pair on clearance I will buy them. If not, I'll replace these with the current version (Sonic 4 Balance) when these wear our. For me the shoes ability to reduce vibration and shock make them a winner.

Hoka Clifton 6 Road Running Shoes - Men's
50 miles and 4 runs on these shoes so far. For me they work well up to to 1/2 marathon distance. After that they fell a little firm for me. Iv'e done two 16 mile runs in these and the bottoms of my feet hurt after both. However, I am over 60, weigh 175 pounds and run an average of 40 miles per week so the feet thing could be just me.
The upper is fine, no hot spots. tongue is padded and somewhat short but that hasn't been am issue. Lock down is good, no heel slip. Laces aren't too long or too short and combined with the padded tongue don't cause any issues. Laces also stay tied. Breath-ability is fine so far but it hasn't really been hot here yet.
No signs of wear on the out sole yet. The shoe has rubber pads in strategic location and the rest is exposed foam. I would expect to get 400 to 450 miles out of these.
The ride is fine but I had hoped it was a little "softer". Again, that's personal preference. I'm hoping to get use to the firmness, but I can always use them 1/2 marathon and less.
