Two thumbs up from a cold sleeper.

Written on Jan 22, 2025

I bought matching bags, one for myself and one for my husband. I wanted us to be comfortably warm should the furnace fail in the middle of a polar vortex and on our winter camping adventures. My husband is a cold sleeper, electric blanket, super puffy down comforter, socks, etc. We tested the bags out a few nights ago when the temp here was zero and he was as warm in it, outside in our tent, as he would be in bed with his electric blanket, down comforter, etc. He gave it two thumbs up.

Snug as a bug in a rug.

I wanted a bag that would keep me warm should my furnace fail in the middle of a polar vortex and for all of my upcoming winter camping adventures. I had the chance to test it out a few nights ago at zero degrees, not exactly the -30 it’s rated for, but I was very comfortable in it. My feet were actually super warm! I did have 2 thin down layers on underneath it, Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer pants and a thin Arc Teryx down sweater, just to take the edge off until the bag warmed up. I don’t think I needed them, but was too warm and cozy to take them off. I didn’t want to have to put them on again at 5am when I expected I’d have to use the loo. The hood and draft collar cinched up very small, keeping the heat in and the cold out. The bag shape is very comfortable, a little more roomy than a mummy, which is what I wanted. I was as warm at zero degrees as I am in my regular bed. I like a 69 degree room to sleep in, with an average down comforter, so I woudln’t say I’m a particularly hot or cold sleeper, but my feet do get cold easily. The Infinium outer layer kept the draft collar and hood opening dry, despite being covered in frost from my breath.
