Brand new with holes in the bottom?

Written on Jun 28, 2017

We bought this tent around Black Friday last year, but didn't open it until this last April when we were getting ready for a trip to Yosemite. We found out it had about 5-7 holes on the bottom of the tent. We had to work with Kelty on the warranty since it was past Campsaver's return policy. All Kelty did was send a few patches for the bottom (which they did about two weeks after we returned from our trip). That wouldn't be as big a deal for me if the tent was at least a few years old and had seen some use. For some reason, the material that is used on the bottom of our tent feels very brittle, unlike the rest of the tent, so that might have been why there are so many holes. On top of the holes I don't know that I would recommend this tent in the first place. There are only two small mesh pockets on the inside for storage. There is a taped seam that runs the entire bottom of the tent. The pole that is used for the rain guard was about two inches too long and required us to use a hack saw to shorten it just so it would fit. The only positive thing about it is how well it ventilates since it is all mesh. Durability also appears to be pretty good, apart from the bottom of our tent which is hopefully just a defect.
